Launchy Makes Life A Little Easier
I downloaded this small program with the hopes of making desktop operations a little simpler. Launchy succeeded with flying colors! If you thought your XP/2000 start menu was good, wait until you get a hold of this program. Launchy is designed to help you forget about your start menu, desktop icons, and even your file manager. This neat little application indexes all this stuff for you and with a few simple keystrokes, you are ready to pull up any program, document, music file, video, pictures, etc.
This tool allows you to simply open nearly any program on your computer, website, or folder with just a few simple keystrokes. I downloaded this application and I must say, not only is it easy to use, but it is also kind of fun. Launchy is called from the background with a hot key combination, and a skinnable box magically shows up on your desktop. Enter the first few letters of whatever you are looking for, and Launchy dynamically finishes the rest of the name. You simply press “Enter” to open or launch. What if that was not what you wanted to open? No problem. A few seconds later, a drop down box is displayed and other likely candidates are there for you to choose.
This program performed without any problems and I think I have forgotten how to use the normal start menu. The one problem I did have is easily fixable with a simple software update, which I am hoping is pretty soon. Launchy supports Windows XP and 2000 so if you have Vista or any other version, you are out of luck. Fortunately, I have two computers and was able to run it on one them as the other has Vista. The program is free, and I highly recommend it for any user.?

If you like Launchy then you need to check out Keybreeze. It’s faster and has a lot more features — macros, notes, plug-ins, system commands, functions, etc.
