NOKIA E61 Review. Where’s the camera?
Despite stealing it’s appearance from Blackberry, the Nokia E61 has everything a Blackberry user could want plus a few extras. Clearly, the designers couldn’t decide which technologies to use when putting this together, so decided on the scattergun approach and covered them all: GSM 850/900/1800/1900, 3G, WiFi, Bluetooth, Infrared, VoIP, Push To Talk, Mini SD cards, POP3, IMAP, SMTP and Microsoft Exchange Server email. Whew! Did you get all that?
The only thing that seems to be missing from the E61’s resume is a camera. Why not? I’m sure the designers could have squeezed another feature in, because weighing in at 144 grams, the E61 is no lightweight and the addition of a camera would have made little difference to the final weight.
The only real issue I could find is that, if anything, there are just too many options and the menu is a little confusing sometimes. As a phone it leaves a lot to be desired, but I have a feeling this one is aimed more at the business professional on the go who needs to make very few phone calls compared to other communications. As an alternative to a Blackberry, it’s certainly worth a look. Just give us a camera next time please.
