Take Your Bulletin Board Off the Wall
Gather your dry erase boards, bulletin boards, and stray post-it notes and prepare them for their demise as yet another online organizer makes its way into the world. With Stixy you can create and save several Stixyboards for just yourself or to share with others.
Using Stixy is pretty simple and straightforward. You create a new Stixyboard, use the widgets to upload files (10mb or less) or create notes and todo lists, and then arrange them as you like. You can name your Stixyboard and share it with only those you want to be able to view and add to it or make it public. It really is like having a bulletin board online. The only thing that kind of disappointed me was that documents only appear as links to download the files, but it does make more sense that way.

Just about anyone can probably find a way to make use of Stixy, whether for actual collaborating or just file sharing and organization. For those of us who almost always share files via email, Stixyboard may be a good alternative. I do feel the Stixyboard interface could be improved–unless you close all the option toolbars things can get a little busy-looking when you’ve got a lot on your board. Fortunately, detailed option menus do pop up in their own windows.
Stixy is currently in open beta and is free to use. Create your own Stixyboard at www.stixy.com.

I’m a fan of anything that helps people get out of their cubicles!! What is the point of wireless networks, hand held devices, and collaboration software if workers are tethered to their desks 40 days a week? Kudos to the virtual office, now one step closer to being complete. Who doesn’t love a dry erase board? But getting past the fact that it’s a really cutesy idea, the sharing and uploading features make it practical, too.
