Griffin Evolve

Posted on 27 October 2007 by Mark Knowles

At last, the world cries, “genuine wireless speakers” for the iPod. On top of that, they are less than $300, which came as a bit of a surprise to me. They do appear to be genuinely wireless, although I think some of their sales pitch is a little over the top:

“The Evolve speaker system comprises a charging base and two cube-shaped speakers. Talk about stereo separation — simply place the Evolve cubes wherever you want to hear the music. You can even move them into the next room with you. There are no entangling wires to hassle with.”

Speaking personally, I usually manage to lay out a speaker wire without entangling hasslements, but that’s what you get when you write your sales pitch in India for two bucks an hour, I guess.

Release date is October 21st, so they should be hitting stores any time now. They certainly look the part and I am interested in see if they live up to their specification sheet.

Mostly I want to see if the remote control will really work from 150 feet away without frying all organic life in the way with high frequency radio waves – watch this space. I think what I most like about these is the way they get them to float in space like that without the entangling gravity to hassle with. AntiGrav at last.

Griffin have actually gone to the trouble of setting up a dedicated website for these speakers:

Evolvespeakers.com

You can check out the full specs there.

This website uses IntenseDebate comments, but they are not currently loaded because either your browser doesn't support JavaScript, or they didn't load fast enough.
