Leopard : A Visual First Look
I preordered Leopard from Apple’s website and it was at my front door by 3 PM EST. Later I realized you can get it for $20 less at amazon.com :(. First thing I did is take a picture of the box which looks crazy cool with a holographic 3D background that makes the X seem floating in space.
I tore the wrapper like a hungry tiger, insert the DVD, double-clicked on the install icon and clicked Restart. But before installing, I installed Jing (review), so I can create screencasts and take screenshots.

I ran through the usual setup stuff: select language, select drive, accept agreement, and so on. I clicked install and waited… The installation took over an hour.
The infamous cover flow is one of the slickest looking way to look at your files and folder, albeit not as efficient.
Another eye candy is folder stacks, which you can see in action in this video.

Mail has some good changes as well. I can see all my tasks, notes, mail and RSS feeds in one place and now with Gmail’s IMAP support my mail folders are synced with Gmail.
No Leopard post would be complete without mentioning spaces. Spaces is simply virtual desktops. I can create multiple desktops and assign different applications to each desktop. So, for example, I can have a desktop for music, browsing, email and work. You can show spaces by pressing F8 and can drag windows between spaces and reorganize spaces to your liking. Watch this video to see what I am talking about.

Last but not least, my favorite leopard feature, can you guess what it is? See for yourself right here.
I know there is a lot to cover in Leopard, but I don’t want to make this post too long and boring. Keep an eye out for more Leopard coverage by subscribing to our feed or email.
