Packard Bell XS20-006 UMPC

Packard bell announced their XS20-006 on the British version of their website as “coming soon,” at a price of £349, roughly $700. No news as yet as to when they will ship, but the specs are impressive. Weighing in at 950 grams the XS20-006 comes with a 1.2 GHz c7-M processor, 128 kB cache, 400 MHZ bus speed 1024MB DDR memory, a 30 GB hard drive and a full Querty keyboard.

With a 7 inch TFT screen offering 800×400 resolution, WiFi, Web camera and Bluetooth as standard issue, this should hold up well against the competition.

This one will likely be launched in the US under the Everex brand as the CE260. No one has managed to get a close look at one yet, but if they can launch in time for the Christmas shopping season, I think this one’s a likely winner.

Full specifications can be found on Packard bell’s British website here. I am certainly looking forward to a closer look. The UMPC market seems to be hooting up in a big way this year and it can’t be long before the typical noyebooks we all carry around are considered clunky obsolete throwback. How long before my MacBook Pro joins the ranks of “Throwback Tech?”
