Packard Bell Compasseo 800 range

Worrying about speed cameras is something my US readers don’t have to spend a lot of time doing, but it may interest you to know that the UK currently has over 6,000 speed cameras in an area smaller than Texas.

These cameras generate so much revenue that it’s only a matter of time before they cross the pond to the good ‘ol US of A. In fact, a single speed camera in Nottinghamshire has caught almost 76,000 motorists in five years. The SPECS speed camera, on the A610, has caught almost a third of the speeding drivers in the county and has resulted in £4.2m in fines. That’s 8 million dollars – from one camera.

But, you can be ready for them. Cue the Packard Bell Compasseo 800 range. This baby does two things: OK, it’s a GPS sat nav system that plays a range of video formats and has a bunch of other facilities. But, more importantly, it provides real time traffic information and warns you when you are entering the range of a static speed camera in most of Europe.

Take heed my American cousins, the speed camera cometh and this is your only defense. As soon as they arrive, buy yourself one of these and you may get to keep your drivers license. The full details are here.
