Wacom Bamboo

Posted on 03 November 2007 by Nion

I firmly believe that pen tablets are a necessary gadget in life. Being a regular user of the Graphire, Intuos, and Cintiq products from Wacom, the newest member of the family is definitely one I’ve got to get a go at. Meet the Bamboo and the Bamboo Fun.

This category of tablets does what one would expect from any other—takes notes, signs things digitally, draws, or does any other number of things you would normally turn to a pen and paper for. It supports widescreen, high resolution displays and allows the control needed for handwriting recognition.

The Bamboo and Bamboo Fun are, more or less, replacing the Graphire (which still manufactures a model with Bluetooth technology.) In addition to the advancements that have already been made, the Wacom tablets are more stylish and ergonomic. And, starting at $80 for the Bamboo and $100-$200 for the larger Bamboo Fun, they’re not expensive at all (especially considering I paid over $100 for my 6×8 Graphire a few years ago.)

The Bamboo tablets are sure to be a favorite amongst younger people who can’t afford the more expensive, larger tablets, and artists who are first-time Wacom users. And, at its starting price, it’ll suit those who are just looking for a random new gadget as well. Learn more at www.wacom.com.
