It’s That Time of The Year!

With the busiest shopping day of the year rapidly approaching, it is time to start thinking about your holiday gift list. I have taken a little time to possibly fill your list with a handful of items that might interest you for the holiday season. Hope you’ve been good this year!
Do you own a Wii? I don’t but I have played it, and although I am not a gamer, I must say that they Nintendo Wii is very fun! I was addicted and I almost purchased myself one, but thought it was a little phase I was going through. That interest is back with the new addition - Wii Fit. Unfortunately, it will not be released in time for the holidays, but it may come in handy for a new year’s resolution. Wii Fit will use a unique platform peripheral called the Wii Balance Board that can measure a user’s body mass index and their center of gravity. The game will have about 40 different activities, including yoga poses, press-ups, and other exercises. Furthermore, Wii Fit will allow its players to compare their fitness by using Wii Fit’s own channel on the Wii Menu. The price is said to be around $70, and will likely be out during Q1, 2008.
The perfect gift for my father would be the iRobot Looj. If I didn’t live in an apartment, I would want one myself. Gutters need to be cleaned regularly to avoid water damage, overspills and ice dams. Plus, dirty gutters create a breeding ground for carpenter ants, mosquitoes and other pests. The iRobot Looj will do all the cleaning, allowing you to stay off the roof (and out of the emergency room). This little bot is like Roomba for your gutters. The Looj can clean a 60-foot section of gutter in about 10 minutes. In addition, the Looj has easy, hose-down cleanup.
I envision a world full of robots in the next 20 years or so I am not surprised that the next gift happens to be a robot also and perfect for the kids. The
V_Bot, according to toymaker Johnny Lightning, is “a giant super hero with unstoppable power.” While I’m sure there is a way to stop V_Bot’s power by flipping a switch, it is giant. With the touch of a button, it can switch from robot mode to car mode and also wheels around swinging its arms and making noises. Best of all it comes with its own theme music. Not quite sure what it could be, but fitting, I am sure. This cool bot is going to set you back $140, but your child might have been good enough this year to get him/her one.
Have you gotten yourself an Apple TV yet? Me either, but it is on my list. The Apple TV is a cool “media extender,” especially if you are an iTunes user like myself. It is easy to set up and fully ready for high definition … as soon as the content comes along. In the mean time, it’s a wonderful way to get your iTunes library of music, movies and TV shows into your living room with very little hassle.
How about the perfect gift for your mother, stepmother, or grandmother? I am sure they might like it. When I saw this gift, I immediately thought of my grandmother, because she loves tea, but she hates running to the kettle before it begins making that loud shrieking noise. Her dogs don’t like it all that
much either. The Kenwood Response kettle, recently released in the U.K. Not only does it heat up water, it does so while displaying corresponding colors from built-in LEDs, fading from blue to red as it boils. I think that is awesome, however, us not in the UK are going to have to shoot for the ECO Kettle, with dual chambers that can boil as little as a cup of water at a time. Chef’s Choice makes a whole line of cordless electric kettles. There is a big dog of the bunch though that you may be interested in called the Zojirushi. This costly kettle can be figured in to exact temperatures at specific times of days, to better calibrate your water for fragile green teas or bracing lapfuls of body-temperature water.
