Throwback Tech: Fire

Winters chill is upon us and in ages past this may have meant a very serious issue, however luckily for us our acesters where none to fond of the cold either and learned quickly that though fire can burn, it can warm your buns as well. It must of been interesting our first attempt to control fire. How many beards were burned, how many arm hairs singed? Yet in the end when not only were our caves warm but we could also see at night, the burns and ashes (and headaches from smoke inhalation) turned out to be well worth it.
However fire was not destined to merely be something to keep us warm during the winter. Oh no humanity is much to inventive to leave something like fire alone. Soon we were using fire to cook meat, to punish sinners, and even as a way to dispose of our dead. We also said to ourselves, it is true that the sun in the sky gives us light but we can make a sun on the ground as well and have a way to see throughout all hours of the day.
I shudder to think of what life would be like without this amazing discovery and in the immortal words of Jim Morrison “Come on baby light my fire.”
