How to: Become An Online Celebrity
I have a suspicious feeling that everyone at some point in time will have a brief moment of online fame. To speed you up in the process, I am going to tell you exactly how you can achieve an online celebrity status. For a few minutes anyway. Take a look:
- Publicize your IM screen names, URLs, and Net addresses everywhere and often, and reply to everyone. Promote yourself to the fullest. Treat the Web like your house: When Opportunity knocks, be there to answer.
- Build a website site with personality if you want to build a fan base. People need to feel that you, and not an anonymous webmaster, are there. There are soo many ways to build a site, it is ridiculous. Equally ridiculous is the number of social networks there are. Join some, make friends. Make sure to update you site and/or blog and social network every single day, and remember: If it is not interesting, users will click to the next page and move on.
- Update your site with new audio and video clips as often as you can. Pictures tell a story, and some people like looking at stories instead of reading them. There are several hosting services, and again, I will mention social networks because some provide you with all the tools you need to share video, pictures, stories, and whatever else you want to share.
- Get active. Join the community. Interact with those in forums and message board. Have fun doing it and make no enemies. Like my mother has always told me, “If you respect others, others will respect you!”
- One more option would be to get a job - an online job. I provided some cool ways to make money online, and I would recommend you take full advantage of them.

Hey Jo Co, thanks for the tips. I have two questions and I probably shouldn’t post this here, and use the “contact” page, instead. But I wanted everyone to see this and help me out. So, thanks in advance if you do and here goes:
(1) Do SEO (search engine optimization) really work? I feel it’s a scam becuase I’ve used it for a year and it didn’t drive traffic as expected to my website. Btw, I consider my site still new, it’s only up for a little more than two years. Do you think that’s one of the reasons why it’s not popular?
(2) Any of you know how to create a user account page? I wanted to give visitors opportunity to create their own login account and be able to upload/maintain/share their photos; a social networking site for aircraft enthusiasts. I have a huge 1.5TB web space and had only used 2% of it since the site was up 2 yrs. ago. That’s why I think my idea for a social/community site is feasible and it’s a waste of space if kept unused.
Also, I’m looking for people who are interested to join me and maybe we can do a start-up. There are many areas on the site that I want to improve and expand, but I only have this much knowledge and time, especially the latter. I want an online store too, selling prints(posters, postcards), T-shirts, theme calenders,…etc, of the relevant subject. I’m more on the artistic/creative side than the “tech” side. So, many of the script language I still need to learn. I do know HTML, CSS, Javascript, PHP, most of the popular animating software and photo editing programs. I’m proficient in Adobe line of product. I use mainly Illustrator and Photoshop for all my graphic needs. In other words, I’m a computer graphics/animation artist not a techhead. If you or anybody you know who would like to invest time with me, please spread the word. Thanks very much. We will share the profit, of course, if we become a success.
