I Party With iPartee
I mostly use Facebook to do my party planning, but there is a whole plethora of party planners. There is Evite, Eventful, Upcoming, Windows Live Events, Zvents, Socializr, MyPunchbowl, Skobee, Renkoo, MadeIt, and ImThere, and as mentioned, Facebook.
Why not add another one! iPartee is a Toronto-based startup that mixes a little bit of everything to have you partying like a true rock star. It is no longer in beta and open to anyone who wants to create a social network around concerts, clubbing, or other events. You can create a profile for yourself, for an event, or for a venue. In their own words, “IPartee is a place to find events and venues you and your friends want to attend. We let you plan, publish, promote and monetize your events for free.”
Some of IPartee’s features include a social network, polls, personal calendars, event and venue calendars, groups, event photos, and event reviews. IPartee does a decent job at tying all of these things together. In terms of planning a fiesta, you’ll need to sign up for the site.
You can create both a personal profile as well as a profile for your event, and can use the site’s interactive tools to help you figure out the best time, date, and location. You can send invites to anyone, regardless of whether or not they have an account on IPartee, via the site’s contact list manager. If you are looking to attend an event, you can browse public events across the site, join groups related to events you may be interested in checking out, or subscribe to a variety of available feeds, which pull updates from groups, friends’ profiles, photos, etc. to keep you on top of the latest happenings.
Will I use iPartee? Maybe. I am very content with Facebook and if I did not use Facebook, Evite would be my next option. There are just a few things missing that similar services offer. I will point out however, that iPartee does plan to sell tickets on the site in the near future.
Check it out. You may love it. I don’t hate it, but I don’t think I’ll be switching over from what I already use. Will this new startup make it? Only time will tell…
