Find out if you need to wait with flight wait
Filed Under: Service

Planning on taking a flight during the holidays? Worried that you flight might be delayed or canceled? Well if you are one of the millions of travelers during this very busy season, you might want to bookmark www.flightwait.com, this handy little site gives up to the date information on flight delays and cancelations from most of the major airports in the US. You simply input the airport you are departing from, watch the lines form and if there is a line leading from your departure point to your destination than refer to the key on the side of the page and you can know what is up with your flight. Or at least that is what is supposed to happen.
To tell the truth I am not sure if this site is either accurate or worth the time. While it shows lines leading from one airport to another the colors seldom match the key, and there is really no other information to refer to. Does the bright yellow line mean everything is okay? Or does it mean there is a flight? Also it covers most of the really well known airport but dosn’t do much for you if you are leaving from a smaller airport. Also given that most airports require you to check in an hour or more before departure how useful is this site really going to be? Even if your flight is delayed, its not going to do you any real good to check the site when you can simply check the flightboards in the airport.
Honestly I think the idea is the beginning of something that might be useful but until it gets better developed and does something worth seeing other than lines flying across a map of the US I wouldn’t point this site to anyone.
