Envision L19W661 HDTV

Posted on 21 December 2007 by Mark Knowles

The Envision L19W661 is a TV – an HD TV, but it’s also designed to be a computer monitor. As with most things that try to be all things to all men, this misses the mark on both counts.

It’s an acceptable quality TV and the built-in high definition tuner produces a reasonable quality picture. Plug in a decent Blu ray player (in my case a Sony PS3) and you will get a better than average image.

The LCD screen is sharp as long as you are not sat too close and the casing looks good. The “stereo” speakers managed a decent quality sound, but with some noticeable distortion after the volume controls half way point.

It makes a better TV than computer monitor. For some reason, Envision have decided than only midgets with very skinny, triple jointed fingers are ever going to want to access the cables, which tells me they don’t expect anyone to actually use it as a monitor. And I could never quite get the image to settle down.

I am really not very excited about this. As a second or third TV in the kitchen or bathroom, it’s adequate, but if you want a monitor, look else where. As far as the TV goes – It ain’t a Sony.
