Largest Multi Touch Screen Ever

Phillips have announced they will be debuting five new HD LCD screens at 2008 CES in Las Vegas next week. They are claiming the massive 52-inch as the largest multi touch screen in existence.

Much like the iPhone, the screen will allow two different points of contact at the same time, although I am not sure I would want my 4-year-old’s grubby, ice-cream covered fingers all over the front of my new TV screen. These displays are, of course, not intended for home use, but how could you resist?

They will also be showing an enormous 84-inch screen that is made up of 4 42-inch multi-touch panels and sports a 15mm bezel, a 180 degree viewing angle and 500cd/m2 brightness.

More models on display other than the usual collection of semi-naked promo girls will be the 47-inch “triple view screen,” which can display different content to three different users simultaneously by splitting the colors into different paths depending on the users angle of view; a double-sided 47-incher that uses a single backlight for both screens and a 42-inch transreflective panel designed for outdoor use and producing 1,500 cd/m2.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the term “transreflective,” (as I wasn’t) here is the Wikipedia definition.
