Apple MacBook Air

Hot, hot, hot – thin, thin, thin. Apple’s new laptop computer once again shakes the technology world’s foundations and it looks as though Apple is trying to do to laptops what they did to cell phones with the iPhone.
Not quite the same, because this new laptop is pretty much the same as all the other laptops – just thinner.
It certainly is a fine looking machine, but I have a feeling there are going to be some issues with longevity with this one. At least the iPhone was step forward in technology and the only thing I can say about the macbook air is – it’s thin.
There is no denying it’s an extremely nice looking piece of equipment. The technological specs look good, but I wonder at the point of making it this thin – is it worth the money? What do you all think?
Is three grand for a computer with a life span of about two years worth the investment?
Some think not, and there is a good opinion on the Macbook air here. Others think this is the best thing since sliced bread and there is another alternative opinion here. But I am interested to know what you, the readers think. Leave me a comment and let me know

I don’t think I’d ever get a computer without an optical drive. I realize they’re pushing iTunes, movie rentals, etc. hard, but I still have to occasionally read or burn a CD/DVD. It’s too much of a pain to hunt down another computer with a drive to do this just for the slim design.
