Thanks Jim. Those are also great tips to help generate traffic. I'd like to zero in on word of mouth. I'm surprised I did not mention this, but the power of word of mouth is overwhelming.

I cannot tell you how how many sites have become so successful by the simple word of mouth. It is astonishing and something you should not overlook in your quest for success.

I can personally vouch for the power of linking and blogging. Having an external site link to you will almost instantly boost traffic to your site. Also, keeping a blog, even if the content is random, will result in search engine traffic. I've gotten traffic from really weird search strings before.

Here are a few other traffic generators off the top of my head:

- Comment on other blogs and be sure to add your link. If there's content on another site you want to share on your blog, send a trackback.

- If you are a member of a social networking site, be sure to include your website in the profile.

- Tell people about your site face to face. Never underestimate the power of word of mouth.

- If you offer a service on your site, have some business cards printed up and distribute them. Even though you may not be able to track that as well as internet-based traffic, it will still bring people to you.
