Don’t Know The Answer? Mosio Does!

Posted on 13 November 2007 by JoCoWash

Have you ever been in a situation where you needed an answer quickly, but could not think of where exactly to get the answer. I have a solution! I was out to dinner with some friends at Red Lobster, when suddenly an argument began on the age of Hilary Clinton. Why that started, who knows, but it occurred to me that there is a service that answers your question immediately, and for FREE.

Dubbed Mosio, this service allows you to text whatever question you have, and real people will answer it for you, and reply via text.

So, going back to the age of Hillary Clinton, I just sent them the question and some seconds later got a text back:

Hillary Clinton was born in 1947 so she is 60 years old

There it was. The answer right in the palm of my hands, which ended the argument very quickly as everyone was off by years. The company specializes in mobile Q&A, letting anyone with a phone ask a question via SMS or e-mail and get public replies back from other Mosio members. The site launched at the beginning of August and has since answered a good number of questions.

Like some other Q&A services, to ask and answer a question you have to be a registered user, which Mosio calls “QnAgents.” Unlike some expert-driven sites such as Citizendium, there are no prerequisites for being a Mosio agent, just the hope that you know the answers to the questions you are answering, or will go through the effort to research them. To ask a question, just write it as a text message and send it to ask@mosio.com. If anyone answers, you will get a text back with his or her response.

In addition to simple Q&A, Mosio also offers a host of “apps,” which are free, subscription-based text services that range from birthday reminders to content feeds from news providers.

So check them out. They are totally free and the service just might save your life…or a test grade as I have recently found out that some people use the service to get answers for school tests. I wish I knew about the service when I was in school!

Help decide with Connect 2 Elect

Posted on 04 November 2007 by TheGrizz

With the 2008 presidential election looming just around the corner many people may want to know what candidate best represents their own political views and ideology. Making this decision even harder is the massive amount of news coverage on each candidate which is not always entirely objective. It is no wonder that many voters feel both apathetic and overwhelmed. Well there is some light in the darkness when it comes to choosing the right presidential candidate with the online connect 2 elect website.

What connect 2 elect aims to do is allow the user to enter a variety of information about the issues they feel are most important. Once this is done the connect 2 elect website compiles the information then gives the user a target view with them in the center. Surrounding the user are several red and blue pins that represent the presidential candidates and how close they match the users political belief’s. While this system is not perfect by any means, it should enable almost anyone to get a better idea of who they wish to vote for.

My only complaint about this website is that I as an independent voter would like to see information on all candidates running for election. I know that many independent candidates are marginalized, but I think this little site could help them gain some kind of presence in the public mind.

Ace Your Interview with InterviewUp

Posted on 28 October 2007 by T.W. Garrett

Most of us know that the first hurdle of landing a job is getting an interview; however, the more difficult hurdle to jump is acing the interview and coming across as an intelligent, hire-worthy individual. There is thick competition in the job market these days and it’s best to prepare yourself thoroughly before stepping foot into an office for an interview. InterviewUp is a helpful site that allows users to post common or unusual interview questions in hopes of receiving a good answer that is memorable and useful when the time comes. Users can also respond to others’ questions with helpful answers as well.

I browsed around the site and within seconds I found several questions that I have been asked at one time or another and I found myself eagerly clicking on them to find what others have replied with. It is interesting collaborating on this type of information because seeing other answers can help you contour your own response and relate it to moments in your career that you may not have remembered if you were asked the question on the spot.

InterviewUp is a very basic site – not a lot of bells and whistles. However, it serves its purpose and can be very helpful if you are currently seeking a new career. The service is completely free and enables you to save questions, answers and replies for you to review at any time.
