Free Website for you to Build for Yourself

Posted on 01 January 2009 by clark

To have your own free website if you have products that you want to sell on the Internet you can go to Freewebs.com. This site is awesome to get your products out to the world. Freewebs.com is simple to use. All of the templates are set up. There are many various options to choose the style of background you want to use.

You can choose the font style you’d like for the already set up pages. Pages already included are the Home Page, Photo Gallery to display your products, Rates and Services where you can post the prices of your items that are for sale, About Us Page to give your customers an idea of who you are and what you are selling. Add a photo of yourself at work on your items to give the customer a feel of you hard at work. The Testimonial Page is great for new customers to see happy customers that recommend you and the Guest Book for guests and potential customers to comment on your items on your website and a Contact Form for customers to ask you questions or order from you.

To set-up your Home Page you can include a photo of yourself or anything you would like. Make your Home Page appealing to draw your customers in.

The Photo Gallery is so easy to use. Simply click on Add Photo Album and search your computer for the photos of your items you have. You can make different photo albums to keep your items organized in different categories.

The Rates and Services Page is set up so customers can easily read the prices. I would recommend putting the price right on the same page as the photo of your items, too. This will make for easy navigating on your website for potential customers. You do not want someone leaving your page because they could not find the price of an item.

The Guest Book Page is wonderful as you get to see who stopped by your page. Besides the guestbook there is a free page hit counter you can sign up to receive. With the page hit counter you will not know the names of the people that stopped by, but you can get an idea of how many people are seeing your website.

If there is a page you do not want on your website you can go to the editing page and simply delete it. You can even add special pages to your website. Some of the special options are a blog and add a new page and name it.

You may add videos, links, and widgets on your free website.

There are many ways to advertise your page with Freewebs.com for free such as joining groups called rings, holding forums and more.

For a small fee you can upgrade your page to get your own domain. Included in the free price your website address will read:

www.freewebs/yourname.com. With your own domain name it will read: www.yourcompanyname.com.

There are many other options on getting your own free website to choose from. Don’t spend hundreds to thousands of dollars having someone else set up your website. Freewebs.com makes setting up your own website super easy and you cannot beat the price of freewebs.com. Get your own site today and start making money doing something that you love.

Traffic Generating Tips For Your New Site/Blog

Posted on 13 February 2008 by JoCoWash

ist2_3126949_increasing_chart.jpgDo you have a website? Do you have a blog. Do you own both? A good majority of people have either a blog or a website. If you don’t, now is the time to learn about them and start your own. It is super simple and there are companies out there that practically do all the work for you. We have covered a few options for building a website and if you are looking to create yourself a blog, Wordpress and Blogger are just a few good options. Of course, once you start your blog or website, you are probably going to want some traffic, right? I am going to point out a few good ways to help you generate some traffic to your new page.

The term “content” when used by Internet Marketers refers to written words, audios, or videos. Incorporating high value web content in your website can help you generate more traffic in a number of ways.

How exactly does valuable website content help you get more traffic?

FACT: Search engines love website that offer high value web content. No matter what type of site you have, you can leverage this to increase the traffic to your website. Whether you have an online store, a forum, or a blog, you can add content to generate traffic.

Some example would be:

  • Adding valuable articles to your website
  • Archive your posts or content on the site.
  • Add audio. Not many users do this, but if you include maybe an interview, readers will love it.
  • Frequently Asked Questions. Everyone has questions. Why not answer some of the most common questions and post them to your site. An “About Us” page would also be helpful to a user.

There are millions of sites out there and massive amounts of information that could quite possibly be related to your blog or site and one cool way of getting some traffic is simple marketing; Article marketing. Article marketing is writing content for other websites. You write a useful article on a topic related to your website, and offer it for other website owners to publish on their websites, blogs, or in their newsletters. This can also work the other way as well. Not only do you receive links to your website each time your article is published, but also other website owners begin to seriously consider you as an expert in your field and may contact you for more opportunities.

Swapping can be one of the easiest ways to generate traffic, if done correctly. I am not very knowledgeable in ad swapping, but that can be tricky (from what I hear). Blog recommendation swapping is nice. Recommend a site and send them the link and if they are nice, they will do the same in return. It is a great way to share, or network rather.

Contests are great and everyone loves free items. One of the easiest ways to get a quick burst of traffic to your website is by offering a hot contest. The chance to do something small and win something big is appealing to the human psyche. So, use that to your advantage.

Podcasting/Vidcasting is a growing trend. If you can do it, do it. It is a lesser-known way of generating traffic . Podcasting is simply broadcasting audio via RSS feeds. This means that someone regularly records audios and has them fed via RSS to subscribers who are waiting for updated audios. It is not as hard as it sounds. There are so many podcasts these days they are hard to keep track of. One I listen to (or watch) regularly is Geekbrief.tv. To begin podcasting, you will need to ask yourself a few questions: What exactly is your message that you wish to share? With whom would you like to share this podcast?

You can generate traffic by posting on forums, if you do it right. There are spammers everywhere and there is software now to cut through those spammers and if you look like a spammer, you will probably be blocked, and your efforts to generate traffic have not increased. Read a message board or forum and post accordingly. You won’t want to post (with your link) on a message board or forum about the iPod in a Health forums page. Not cool.

Lastly, I want to mention Logos. If you have not noticed, we were fortunate enough to finally get ourselves a nice logo. The people over at TheGraphicStaff astounded us with our great new logo. You would not think a logo is that important for generating traffic, but it really helps. It establishes who you are. Go to any website and you will more than likely see a logo that identifies who they are. A calling card, if you will.

Now that I have helped you out a little by giving you some ways to increase traffic, I hope you will see a difference in your own results. Here at The Tech Brief, we certainly have, using most of these methods I share with you above. Of course, there are a million other ways to generate traffic, and I would like to point out that although it may be fast to try every single method you find out there at once, you should try each of them individually and find the one method that you are most proficient at on your site.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us, but another good site to find how to do just about everything (including running a website) is eHow. Enjoy, and good luck!

Mixxing Your Blend of the Web

Posted on 28 November 2007 by Nion

Since everyone’s all a-buzz about Mixx aiming to be the new Digg I decided to check Mixx out for myself to see how much of a clone it really is. In all honesty, I really only use Digg to promote my favorite blogs. That’s what Digg was made to do and it does it well. In regards to this function, Mixx is no different aside from the fact that it takes far fewer votes to get featured on the front page. While Digg is also a social site that is meant to help users find new media, I don’t like these aspects of it at all.

This is where Mixx has picked up the slack. While I’m not as huge a fan of social networking as it would benefit me to be, Mixx’s social features strike me as a bit more inviting than Digg’s, giving users the ability to use Mixx’s features within the boundaries of private groups. Plus, the site greets you with your customized MyMixx page. This page lists the most popular, most recent, or most commented on media in each category you’ve selected as having an interest in, helping you build “your blend of the web.” Plus, Mixx allows you to search for media that is related to your area and subscribe to feeds for each category. While Bubbletop is my favorite when it comes to having a customized online experience, I’d say Mixx is handling that aspect a little better than Digg.

Ultimately, it’s difficult to say how well Mixx is going to do. I by no means think it’s going to replace Digg but it probably will continue to steal little bits of Digg’s user base at a time. One of it’s big downfalls at the moment is the fact that Digg, StumbleUpon, and Del.ici.ous are already integrated into so many sites. Is the web willing to make room for a fourth? If not, the chances of people opting to use Mixx over Digg and other services will probably decrease quite a bit. Regardless, Mixx is definitely worth watching, as its growth is bound to shake things up on the Internet at least a bit. Sign up for Mixx Beta at www.mixx.com.

Second Life Users: Don’t Surrender Too Many US Dollars

Posted on 26 November 2007 by T.W. Garrett

If you need a way to escape your mundane life, you can try living a completely different life in a virtual world called Second Life (SL). Released in 2003, Second Life is a place where you can design a different “you” that will live among other SL members, doing everything as you would in the real world including talking, walking, buying and even making money.

Second Life has grown to be incredibly popular, gaining the interest of large moguls and businesses such as CNN. CNN has purchased land in SL and has real-time associates that work through SL to find out what the public constitutes as news. Many companies are working in SL by buying land, building extravagant structures and attracting SL members to visit their business and spend real dough. Land is actually sold and bid on through Ebay and you can choose to pay in
Linden dollars and US money, both of which cost you actual money. Simultaneous site traffic has been reported to be in upwards of 40,000 members at any given time.

second-life-asian-villa.jpg

Members create everything that you see on Second Life.
If you wish to have a big house or fancy clothing on your avatar, you can purchase clothing textiles, marble gates for your driveway or even a beautiful home. However, it will cost you and it can cost a lot. However, to be a basic member of Second Life, you can register for free and you are able to walk around and chat with other members. The money is required if you truly want to take advantage of the program.

In my opinion, Second Life is an interesting idea and is noticeably popular. However, I feel it can be addicting, confusing and misleading if the users do not fully understand the difference between the real world and SL’s virtual reality. It is far too easy to be wrapped up into a virtual world where it ends up taking over what’s real. Critics have commented on the initial resistance of the Internet and how the hesitancy of Second Life prospective users is similar. Although, I don’t plan on buying virtual property over real property, I’d rather fix up my own home on Earth.

Wix: A Look At The Flash Website Builder

Posted on 24 November 2007 by JoCoWash

If you’re interested in creating a cool flash website, then look no further. Just click here. Merely visiting the website itself is intriguing.

I thought to myself, “If I could make anything as cool and creative as their site, then sign me up!” So, that is what I did; I signed up. However, I signed up for the invitation and, sadly, I cannot tell you detailed information about it. But, I can briefly tell you what it has to offer.

Wix is a free flash design tool. It claims to allow users to create Flash-based websites without any programing skills, and to publish those sites anywhere on the web. The output can also be created into a widget and published on social networks. How cool is that?

Sadly, that is all that is known of this new Israeli startup. I have been waiting on my invitation for some time now, but I am sure it’ll be worth the wait. In the meantime, check out these other cool website builders which are all great: Synthasite, Weebly, Jimdo and Google Page Creator.

Each of these are great for creating nice websites. However, if you want to build a flash site, you’ll have to wait on Wix, as none of the services above have such a feature.
